Areas of Focus: Student Professional Development, “My First Research” Programs, Undergraduate-Graduate Mentoring/Shadowing Initiatives

Sarah joined the OUR in May 2023. Prior to her role at UNC Charlotte, Sarah worked in student success at West Virginia University, where she also obtained her PhD in Educational Theory & Practice in 2022. Sarah began her career in the K12 setting as an ESOL teacher, receiving her BA, Secondary Education and BA, Spanish from Marshall University in 2013 and her MA, TESOL from Greensboro College in 2016. Through her time in various educational settings, Sarah has focused on applying a critical lens to understanding and disrupting inequitable practices; her work is centered on holistic student development and creating liberatory educational spaces. In the OUR, Sarah aims to continue to democratize the access to and experience of engaging in creative learning such as research.
