NEW OPPORTUNITY! Community Engaged Scholars Program Now Accepting Applications!

If you are interested in engaging in mentored research with community partners, learning more about your content, building your resume, and networking with other professionals with shared interests, applying to be an OUR Community Engaged Scholar is the right choice for you! Did we mention you can make up to $4000* for doing research for the year-long experience (August-April)?

*OUR positions are Federal Work Study eligible!

Here’s how the application process works:

  • Students review project descriptions provided by potential UNC Charlotte community partners, found in the “Project Descriptions Booklet”.
  • Students identify the top 2 projects in which they would like to engage.
  • Students fill out an application for the OUR Community Engaged Scholars positions and include their top 2 projects. Students are limited to one application.
  • OUR Team matches students with community partner projects.
  • Community Partner Mentors review applications for potential matches and can accept or decline students. Therefore, it benefits you to talk to potential mentors as part of the application process.
  • If the student is accepted by the mentor, the student can confirm the position.
  • You did it! Students will be provided with the contact information for their mentor and should reach out to their new mentor as soon as possible.

Student applications will be open from March 17 through April 10, 2025. If you have any questions about the application process, please feel free to contact us at undergradresearch@charlotte.edu for support!
